Cub Country Release New Album This Fall
"Stretch That Skull Cover and Smile" is Band's Fifth Release
Cub Country was conceived in the year 2000 AD at 219 6th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. There we wrote and released the "Utah Slim vs. Cub Country" and "High Uinta High" albums on Ear To Ground and Jade Tree, respectively. We then moved to Chapel Hill, NC in 2003 where "Stay Poor, Stay Happy" was finished and released on Future Farmer Recordings. Continuing in the mobile tradition we moved to Seattle, WA in 2005 where a blue 7" called "Lucky Knife" was released on Sit n Spin records. Then, in 2006, we again relocated to the desert/mountain landscape of Salt Lake City, UT where the fifth installment in the series, "Stretch That Skull Cover and Smile", will be unleashed in 2008 here on Future Farmer! Throughout the moves and years Cub Country has been a huge collaborative effort involving a slew of members and talented players and continues in that spirit now.

Inspired by a dream visit by his mother, wide-eyed idealist Marty O’Neill (Lee Holmes - Erosion, The Salton Sea) takes to the road on a quest for something that will give his life meaning. When his motorcycle breaks down outside of an adult bookstore in a small middle American town, Marty takes a job in the store to make some cash and get his bike fixed. While struggling to understand the mad methods of Max (Mark Boone Junior - Batman Begins, Memento, 2 Fast 2 Furious), the store’s gruff owner, Marty befriends Elmore (Melvin Van Peebles - Jaws 2, Panther, Sweet Sweetback's Baad Asss Song), an eccentric old beat poet who frequents the bookstore, and becomes enamored with Mary Jane (Jenette Goldstein - Duplex, X-Men: Next Demension), the cynical stripper who stars in the show’s peep show booth.
